Wesley Chapel Wants Sportsplex USA

I have talked to a number of people about the possibility of the Sportsplex coming to Wesley Chapel. There was some mention as to "competition" for the WCAA and their activities at the District Park, but the overwhelming majority felt this facility will compliment the park activities. It would definitely help support the image of Wesley Chapel as a "destination location" and therefore, the local economy. I am from San Diego and enjoyed going to the Sportspelex facility in Poway, CA. I think they did a wonderful job and would welcome the opportunity to have the same type of facility here in Wesley Chapel.

Pasco Commissioners voted unanimously to finalize negotiations with Sportsplex USA regarding the proposed multi-purpose sports complex for Pasco County. On November 10, 2009 and November 12, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:00pm Pasco County and Sportsplex USA will hold two public meetings in an effort to wind down the decision making process. For this, Sportsplex would act as a consultant on the design and construction of the project which they would later operate the complex on the County's behalf. Three locations were recommended by Sportsplex including the Starkey Ranch in Trinity, Wiregrass and Connerton.

The November 10th meeting will be held at Pasco County Historic Courthouse in Dade City and the November 12th meeting will be held at the West Pasco Government Center Board Room in New Port Richey. Presentations on the project will be made by both County officials and representatives from Sportsplex USA. The public will then have the opportunity to give their opinions and make comments. Representatives from the possible locations should take this opportunity to provide feedback.

If you cannot make the meeting but would like to "sit in", both events will be televised on Pasco County Government Television on Bright House Networks Channel 622 and Verizon Fios Channel 42.
